Rocks & Ice

Sun Peaks is a lovely ski resort town similar to st moritz without the glitz. We are now in Whistler which is another ski resort town. Here for two days. Tomorrow I am doing zip lining through the pine forests and alpine valleys and Karen is visiting a dog sled husky farm. If .the weather is fine in the afternoon we will do a peak to peak gondola ride. We are making many friends from our tour group from all over Australia.

Tomorrow we head to the ski resort of Sun Peaks in BC where we learn about the beaver fur trade, the first commercial industry in this Provinice.

The last few days have been a blast. Our accommodation has been first class in the iconic Fairmont resorts. As pretty as Lake Louise is Banff is our favourite so far in both hotel and sights.
We have had unseasonal snow falls which effected some activities but in all it has been a bonus as we are seeingThe Rockies in winter mode. Heavy snow fall in Banff yesterday made it look like Xmas. Today it cleared enough for our helicopter ride through the mountains in an area called The Three Sisters pass. WOW.
We have spotted many brown bears, elk, long horned sheep, mountain goats and 2 cyote.
The views have been amazing, the animal spotting abundant and the tour group a bunch of fun people.

Grouse Mountain is on the north side to Vancouver only half hr drive away. Lots of activities including grizzly bear watching, lumberjack show, raptor bird show, Eco walks and chair lit rides. We spent a full day up there. Although this is their summer there is still lots of snow up there.

Tonight we had a welcome dinner to meet our tour director and fellow passengers who we will spend the next 30 days with. Tomorrow we board the Rocky Mountaineer train for a two day trip through the Rockies.
